ACA installs first RCD30 60mp Color and Color IR Digital Mapping Camera in North America for Transmission Line and Corridor Mapping
ACA has developed a new advanced helicopter pod specifically designed for transmission line and corridor mapping. This advanced system is unmatched by other systems in use today. The name of the new data acquisition pod is FALCON which stands for Fully Automated LiDAR Collection FALCON also includes high resolution orthos and oblique imaging, all simultaneously collected. The new pod incorporates the latest industry technology with the Riegl 680i, 400,000 pulses per second Full Digital Waveform LiDAR system and, the newly released Leica RCD30 Medium Format Digital Ortho Mapping Camera. The RCD30 dual axis forward motion compensation system provides superior image sharpness and positional accuracy for the generation of orthos. The RCD30 is the first medium format digital mapping camera to simultaneously acquire Color and Color Infrared imagery. The advanced FALCON system completes its acquisition with an industry leading 18 mp digital camera for the capture of oblique imagery of structures, still and video.
All systems acquire the data and imagery simultaneously in a single pass at collection speeds the industry has yet to achieve, saving the Utility time and money. The FALCON has demonstrated superior accuracy in helicopter platforms.
